Join us as we take a tour through the highlands and islands of Scotland with Scotch Ambassador Simon Brooking. Must be 21+ to participate.

About this Event

Join Beam Suntory as we take a tour through the highlands and islands!!! We will be tasting and learning about three different whiskies: Laphroaig, Bowmore, and Auchentoshan. Brand Ambassador Daron Pettitt will be on hand and Scotch Ambassador Simon Brooking will be joining us via Zoom to guide us through our journey.

This event is for those 21+ ONLY. No one under the age of 21 will be allowed in the tasting area for any reason.

All current Covid standards will be strictly followed. Because of Covid standards, only 50 tickets will be sold in advance online.

Scottish Cricket

"PLAY BALL!" THE SCOTTISH WAY:  The Scots are a sports loving people and one of their more
popular summer team sports is the venerable old game of cricket.  Visitors to this years
Springfield Area Highland Games on May 15th will have an opportunity to personally experience this aspect of
Scottish culture by joining in the short, easy-to-play, cricket games that American cricket player and
teacher Tom Melville will be conducting throughout the day.  The games will be run on a continuous
walkup basis and open to all. Absolutely no experience required!  So come and discover what
"play ball'  means to the Scots!

Maid of All Work: The women who worked for the Lincolns
A presentation by Anne E. Mosely, 
University of Illinois at Springfield's Center for Lincoln Studies, Acting Director

​Join the University of Illinois at Springfield's Center for Lincoln Studies, Acting Director at the Springfield Area Highland Games where she will discuss her research, "Maid of All Work: The women who worked for the Lincolns." Learn about the Irish maids who cooked and cleaned the Lincoln home and cared for the Lincoln children. After the program there will be time for a question and answer session.
